When I started building Warmth, I got caught up in the AI hype. I built features to generate weekly recaps and write love letters based on my diary entries. In fact, they were the app's main selling point.
Then my partner and I started using it. One evening, I logged a simple note: "The latte you made today is so delicious!" and tapped generate.
The app gave back something like this:

When you handed me that latte today, it was more than just coffee. It was a gentle reminder of how lucky I am to have someone who cares for me in the smallest moments. Every sip felt like a warm embrace. Thank you for filling my life with sweetness.

It read like a generic greeting card. Nobody talks to the person they love that way. When my partner writes an entry at the end of the day, I want her actual feelings, clumsy thoughts, even typos. When a bot starts writing for us, we're not talking to each other anymore.
Worse, our private notes were traveling to an external server just to get back fake sentiment neither of us wanted. Once your words leave your phone, what happens to them is someone else's call.
So for Warmth version 2.0, I deleted all of it. No more AI generating fake feelings.
